How Our Sofas Are Made

Every My Next Sofa is built to order in a family-run workshop in Poland with over 20 years of upholstery experience — not pulled from warehouse stock, and never mass-produced. This page shows you exactly how your sofa is made, and what to look for in a sofa built to last.

Made to order, never mass-produced

When you place an order, your sofa doesn’t come off a shelf — it goes into production. You choose the model, the size and configuration, and your fabric from 134 colours across 8 collections. It is then cut, framed, foamed, upholstered and finished by hand, and delivered to your room across the UK. Typical production time is 4–8 weeks, because each piece is genuinely built for you.

What goes into every frame

• Kiln-dried hardwood frame. Drying the timber in a kiln removes moisture that causes warping, splitting and creaking over time — a more stable, longer-lasting base than chipboard or untreated wood.
• High-resilience (HR) foam. HR foam holds its shape and recovers from daily use far better than standard foam, so the seats stay comfortable for years.
• DL sofa-bed mechanism with storage. On our sofa beds, the DL mechanism opens to a full sleeping surface in a couple of moves, with under-seat storage built in.
• Hand-upholstered, your fabric. Every cover is cut and fitted by hand in your chosen fabric and colour.

We believe you should be able to see the craftsmanship before you buy. Below we’ll be adding short films and close-up photography from the workshop — the timber, the frame construction, the foam, the stitching — so you can judge the quality with your own eyes.

What to look for in a quality sofa

When comparing sofas, these are the things that decide how long it will last and how it will feel in ten years:

• The frame timber — kiln-dried hardwood resists warping and creaking.
• The joinery — how the frame is joined and reinforced at the corners.
• The foam — high-resilience foam keeps its shape; cheap foam flattens.
• The fabric — see and feel it at home before you commit. Order a sample pack and test it in your own light.

Delivered to your room

Your finished sofa is delivered with a white glove, two-person service — brought into the room of your choice, with packaging removed. Delivery is priced by distance from our Workington base and calculated at checkout, or you can collect from the showroom.
